FEELING FLOWERS

Flowers are usually something we look at. This show asks what happens when we feel them instead.

As the artist behind Eternal Flower Paintings, I paint wedding flowers for couples to have access to their wedding day memories instantly, but not overtly. It is joyful work, and it comes with a promise: these are your flowers. The looser, more expressive painting I’m always reaching for has to stay in service of that likeness.

FEELING FLOWERS is where I put the likeness down. Without a bouquet to be faithful to, I follow the feeling wherever it goes: a charcoal scribble that blooms, a petal made from thick paint, a balloon heart reflecting a garden, a drawing that opens into color. The flowers become invented, imagined, and felt, and each painting aims to evoke rather than depict.

What does it mean to feel a flower? Join us for the opening, stand with the paintings, and tell us what you find. There’s no right answer, only the conversation.
