Frequently Asked Questions

I have a question about…

    The Venue

    1. What is this place?
Flemington DIY is a community arts space with a focus on “do-it-yourself” ethos and values. We host live concerts, art shows, classes and workshops, film screenings, and anything else under the arts umbrella. Similar to the “DIY home improvements” mentality, we believe anyone and everyone should have the opportunity to host an event, book a show, and contribute to a flourishing arts community. When given a platform and support, individuals are capable of great things. See for yourself!
    2. Where is this place?
We are located at 26 Stangl Road in Flemington’s up-and-coming Arts & Cultural District.
    3. Is there parking?
Yes, there is ample parking – and it’s free!
    4. Is your building wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our building is wheelchair accessible with ADA compliant restrooms. If you require reasonable accommodations to access an event please complete our Accommodations Request Form.
    5. Can I work at Flemington DIY?
Our organization is 100% volunteer run – from our Director and Board, to our show promoters and art curators. We are always in need of more volunteers, so if you are interested, please reach out!
    6. What is Flemington DIY’s Covid-19 policy?
In following NJ State Guidelines, we do not require face masks or proof of vaccination at any event.
    7. What is your capacity?
Our space can legally accommodate 263 standing, 188 chairs, and/or 88 with chairs/tables.

    Events

    1. Can I bring booze to the event? I’m a responsible drinker.
No. Our space welcomes guests of all ages at all events at all times. This is a strict policy and if you bring alcohol into the space, you will be kindly asked to leave. Thanks for understanding.
    2. Can I vape inside?
      No please don’t.
    3. Will there be seating?
Yes! Some shows attendees prefer to stand (like a punk show), while others call for a seated audience (like jazz). Whatever your preference, chairs are available upon request at any event.
    4. I can’t make the event and already purchased tickets. Can I get a refund?
We do not provide refunds to any of our events, workshops, or markets. We apologize for any inconvenience, but consider your payment a donation to Flemington DIY. Thank you!
    5. Can I film or take photographs inside the space?
Yes, please do! We love documenting and archiving, so please tag us and send them our way. By entering an event or program, you are entering an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur and later be used for advertising purposes online or in print. For specific events involving children under the age of 18, we ask that you refrain from filming or photographing unless permission is given.
    6. Is my donation to Flemington DIY tax deductible?
Yes! Flemington DIY is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, so donations can be deducted from your taxes as charitable giving. If you desire a written contribution letter for your records, please let us know and we’d be happy to provide one. Thanks for your support!

    Booking the Space

    1. I’m an artist. How can I host my own art show?
We are always looking for new artists to feature, whether it be a solo show or group exhibit. We ask for a sliding scale donation to use the gallery space, but do not collect commission (that’s right, $0) as a way to encourage artists to sell their work. Check out Curate an Art Show for more info.
    2. I have an idea for a class/workshop and would like to lead it. What are my next steps?
Awesome! A majority of our programming comes from community members. Most folks donate their time to teach with funds going to support Flemington DIY, though in some cases, revenue sharing is also a possibility. Email us a brief proposal and we’ll go from there.
    3. Can my band play at your space?
Yes! Please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate. Due to the volume of booking inquiries we receive on a daily basis, we cannot fulfill every request. We do our best to help touring acts, and if you’re local, we’ll take your info and keep it on file for future support.
    4. Can I book a private meeting or party at the space?
Yes, our space is available and open for such occasions. We offer an hourly rate for members and non-members with more info at the Rent Our Space page. On a fixed budget? Let us know and we’ll work something out.
