WHY the STANGL WORKSHOP:

Those who went to High School in Flemington before 1978 would go on field trips to Stangl to learn about Stangl Pottery but Stangl’s history is no longer common local knowledge.

Flemington DIY is housed in the Stangl Arts and Culture District. With the new Stangl Arts and Culture District signage installed it leaves some visitors wondering “What’s Stangl?”; meanwhile, older generations and collectors walk into Flemington Pottery looking for Stangl Pottery not understanding that space now hosts the artisan potters of today. This workshop is a way to pay homage to those artisans before us. With this public art sculpture we will build up our current creatives while educating people in a way that honors those that worked at this creative campus in the past.

Made possible with funds from Hunterdon County and the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
