Traces in Places: Urban Ephemera is a solo exhibition of artwork by local artist and art therapist Bethany Altschwager. The exhibition features over 30 digital collages from the Street Layers series. These works combine photographs of graffiti and textures taken across the tri-state area over the past decade. Her process pulls images from different neighborhoods and even times, collaging time and place. Preserving images of that which, by its nature, will be washed away, painted over, reconstructed, repaired, or torn down highlights the tension between holding on and letting go. Images in these layers break apart so they can come back together in new configurations.
