Community Barn Dance

Stomp & Sow Sunday, June 14, 2026, 3:30-7pm

The revolution wasn’t just fought on battlefields, but lived in barns, taverns, and town greens by everyday people. Come celebrate their stories at a Community Barn Dance on Stangl Road, marking 250 years of the United States.

On Sunday, June 14 starting at 3:30pm, step into the tavern for The Crossing: A Revolutionary New Musical, an intimate performance that amplifies the voices history often leaves out, including Flemington’s own Jacob Francis, a freed Black man who served in the Continental Army. Local author Larry Kidder follows with remarks on Jacob Francis’s extraordinary story.

Jugtown Mountain String Band and Caller Sue Dupre will then take the floor for two rounds of live square dancing. No experience is needed, just a willingness to move. Between sets, grab a bite from Viva Mexico’s Food Truck and browse the seed share to take something home and watch it grow (don’t forget to bring seeds from your garden to swap!).

Flemington DIY is hosting a screenprinting station where you can press your own bandana inspired by revolutionary ideals. Create something to wear, keep, and remember.

What does it mean to be a free and united country? The revolution didn’t end in 1776. Come dance, create, plant, and keep imagining how revolutionary ideals become lived experience in our communities.
