Flemington DIY seeks 10 community-minded, civics-curious creatives for a year-long program.
What is civics?
How can I empower myself and others to make positive change in our community?
How can I hold leadership to account? How does art shape culture and fuel change?
Do these questions pique your interest? Would you want to explore these questions and more with a group of creatives?
Flemington DIY seeks ten community-minded and civics-curious creatives across visual and performative arts who are interested in a year-long program culminating in a final arts show or project. Those applying for the year-long program should be available to meet once a month on Saturdays from 3-5:30 pm. Other community members unable to commit to regular meetings are also encouraged to join us for the individual workshops and discussions.
For the first five months of 2026, we will meet to explore topics related to civics, community and the arts. Meetups will be led by Flemington DIY volunteers and local enthusiasts. We will strive to create a collaborative space where people can actively listen, share their reflections and learn in community. We will use online resources like videos, podcasts and articles to frame each meetup. Participants will be asked to view and listen to these resources prior to meetups.
The first meetups will include:
- Jan 17: Foundations to Government and Social Contracts
- Feb 7: A Look at Federal, State and Local Government
Please view before the meeting on 2/7. - National Constitution Center: https://constitutioncenter.org

During the Summer and Fall of 2026, collaborations will form and artists and performers will decide what they want to create in small or large groups. We will present our work in early 2027.
If you would like to take part in individual monthly meetings, please email arts@flemingtondiy.org to register.
