DESCRIPTION:Ikebana Floral Arranging (In-Person) \nFelicia Pan-Fea\, certified Ikebana artist and teacher            \nOpen to all levels of experience\, this course will teach students how to create beautiful floral arrangements in the Ikenobo-school style of Ikebana\, the oldest school of Japanese floral arrangement. This course will involve hands-on learning of the techniques and structure used in several different styles of arrangement\, and will also cover basic spiritual concepts behind the arrangements. Students will complete an arrangement in each class. For those students who wish to advance their level\, a Certificate of Completion from the Ikenobo School of Kyoto\, Japan\, will be granted for an additional fee and will be discussed in class. NOTE: Students will need their own scissors/flower cutter\, vase/container ($50 and up)\, and a pin frog/kenzan\, all of which may be purchased from the instructor or bring your own. Floral materials will be provided by the instructor for $17.50 per class payable to the instructor at the first class. Please bring a shallow\, wide\, open-mouthed container to the first class (bowl vase\, or fruit plate is okay for the first class). \nREGISTER: https://www.flemingtondiy.org/ikebana/

SUMMARY:Open Jazz Jams
DESCRIPTION:Open Jazz Jams at Flemington DIY will be held from 1-5 PM the first Sunday of every month starting March 5th\, 2023. The sessions will provide an opportunity for musicians to play with an experienced band. From 1-2 PM the hosting musicians for the week will play. Other musicians will be invited to sit in and play between 2-5 PM (typically a minimum of 2 songs each\, circumstances permitting). With the exception of drum kit and piano\, all musicians should bring their own equipment (instruments\, amps\, drum sticks\, microphones\, etc.). The sessions will focus primarily on jazz standards and other jazz tunes contained in Hal Leonard Real Books volumes 1 through 3. Newcomers will be coached through the process.  \nA $3 to $5 donation to Flemington DIY will be required from each musician that plays at the session. DESCRIPTION:Please join us on the first and third Wednesday of every month where men from all walks of life are welcome to gather at the DIY and share their life experience in a safe\, supportive and judgment-free setting. \nThe group organizer\, and your host\, David (Dave) Eisenhardt\, is neither a counselor nor a therapist\, but a Flemington resident who believes strongly in the value of a community for men. His own life experiences include marriage\, divorce and re-marriage\, raising children\, the 9/11 terrorist attack\, navigating the pandemic\, etc. \nThe structure of the meeting will include a brief opening remark from the organizer and then we will go around the circle and invite attendees to share (for 3 or 4 minutes) what is on their mind while others listen in a supportive way without counseling or offering advice during the meeting. Attendees are welcome to also simply attend and listen. \nEach meeting will run two hours and attendees are asked to sign up in advance\, so that we know how many chairs we need and that we don’t exceed occupancy limits of the space. While the meeting is free to attend\, we will pass a hat for those who may wish to make a donation to the DIY space. \nThe gathering is founded on inclusivity and welcomes all participants. SUMMARY:Walking the Path Alone and Together: A Men’s Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on the first and third Wednesday of every month where men from all walks of life are welcome to gather at the DIY and share their life experience in a safe\, supportive and judgment-free setting. \nThe group organizer\, and your host\, David (Dave) Eisenhardt\, is neither a counselor nor a therapist\, but a Flemington resident who believes strongly in the value of a community for men. His own life experiences include marriage\, divorce and re-marriage\, raising children\, the 9/11 terrorist attack\, navigating the pandemic\, etc. \nThe structure of the meeting will include a brief opening remark from the organizer and then we will go around the circle and invite attendees to share (for 3 or 4 minutes) what is on their mind while others listen in a supportive way without counseling or offering advice during the meeting. Attendees are welcome to also simply attend and listen. \nEach meeting will run two hours and attendees are asked to sign up in advance\, so that we know how many chairs we need and that we don’t exceed occupancy limits of the space. While the meeting is free to attend\, we will pass a hat for those who may wish to make a donation to the DIY space. \nThe gathering is founded on inclusivity and welcomes all participants. Our core values insist on respect for the individual based on each person’s inherent dignity and value regardless of differences of race\, creed\, color\, religion\, age\, disability\, sex\, sexual orientation\, gender identity and expression\, marital status\, national origin\, political opinions or affiliations\, socio-economic circumstance\, or veteran status. \nWater and Coffee will be available. \nPlease pre-register for each session:diymensgroup@gmail.com
