SUMMARY:Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a community bird walk! Bring your binoculars and meet new friends (both feathered and not!) \nWhere: Giving Pond in Upper Black Eddy\, PA (Parking area off of Jugtown Hill Road.) \nWhen: Sunday\, May 3rd\, 2026 from 8am to 10am. \nWho: This outing is hosted by Myllicent Felder from Sidney Ridge Nature Playschool\, through Flemington DIY\, a volunteer-run arts space in Flemington\, NJ.   \nWe believe that birding is for everyone! Beginner birders are welcome. Binocular tutorials available! Field guides available for reference.  \nCost: Sliding scale suggested donation of $5-20 upon registration. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. \nRegistration required: flemingtondiy.org/birdAt 8am\, we will meet at the parking lot off of Jugtown Hill Road and travel together as a group. There is no parking fee. There is a well-maintained trail that loops around the pond. The trail in its completion is 1.9 miles. I don’t plan to walk that far\, and we may loop back\, depending on our timing.  \nI don’t believe there are restrooms at this location. \nPlease bring your binoculars if you have! We have two spare pairs available for use. \nRunning late? No problem. We will leave the meeting spot around 8:10am\, and we move as fast as the slowest person\, so we shouldn’t be too far! \nIf the weather is forecasted to be dangerous\, Myllicent will reach out via email by 10am to confirm or cancel the outing.

SUMMARY:Open Jazz Jams
DESCRIPTION:Open Jazz Jams are held he first Sunday of every month. \nThe sessions will provide an opportunity for musicians to play with an experienced band. From 1-2 PM the hosting musicians for the week will play. Other musicians will be invited to sit in and play between 2-5 PM (typically a minimum of 2 songs each\, circumstances permitting). With the exception of drum kit and piano\, all musicians should bring their own equipment (instruments\, amps\, drum sticks\, microphones\, etc.). The sessions will focus primarily on jazz standards and other jazz tunes contained in Hal Leonard Real Books volumes 1 through 3. Newcomers will be coached through the process.  \nA $3 to $5 donation to Flemington DIY will be required from each musician that plays at the session. Visitors that just want to listen to the music are also welcome to attend for all or any part of the 1-5 PM sessions free of charge.  \nFor questions about the sessions\, or to be added to the monthly text notification list for last minute cancellations or reschedules\, please email njjazzjam@gmail.com
