SUMMARY:Tell Us Everything: Story Slam!
DESCRIPTION:Prepare a five-minute story\, based on the theme “Light\,” put your name in a hat and you could be one of ten people selected to tell your story onstage. \nHow to prepare: \n\nPrepare a five-minute story incorporating the theme\, Light.\nStories about your near-death experience\, a light bulb moment\, that beautiful sunrise\, or a simple salad you had for lunch!\nStories should not be longer than five minutes and must be told not read- that means no notes\, no writing on your palm\, no cue cards. We’re timing you!\n Stories should have a beginning\, middle\, and end.\n\nHow to participate: \n\nStorytellers should arrive with a prepared 5-minute story and put their names into the hat 30 minutes before the slam begins.\nOur host picks names from the hat and storytellers take to the stage one at a time.\nAfter each story\, three groups of judges from the audience give a score based on the following criteria:\n\nIs the story on theme?\nWas it five minutes or shorter?\nWas it a story? (i.e.\, Did it have a beginning\, a middle\, and an end?)\n\n\n\nAt the end of the slam\, the storyteller with the highest score wins! \nWhat do you win? Bragging rights and the glow of accomplishment that comes with a story well told.
